My House My Home is an independent publication focused on WiFi-connected home appliances, the kind you plug in, connect to your home network, and control from your phone.
We cover Smart TVs, connected washing machines, smart fridges, app-controlled dishwashers, smart ovens, and connected coffee makers. We do not cover heating, cooling, or building systems (those are different products with different buying criteria).
Who Researches These Reviews
Most reviews on this site are written by Sarah Mitchell, editor and lead reviewer. The editorial team behind My House My Home has been covering consumer electronics and home appliances since 2019, across six categories, from 250 GBP budget smart TVs to 2,500 GBP Samsung Family Hub fridges.
This is a research site, not a test lab. We don't buy the appliances, none of them get unboxed for an article, and no article pretends otherwise. Each piece is built from the manufacturer's own documentation, from outlets that publish their measurement method and their numbers, and from owner reports read as patterns rather than as facts. Where those sources disagree, the article prints both figures and says which one we'd trust.
Our editorial standards
- We are not paid for reviews, and no manufacturer sees an article before it's published.
- Affiliate links may appear in some articles; they do not influence what the article tells you to check.
- Every factual claim names its source. A number without one doesn't go in.
- Prices name the retailer and the date checked. Firmware and app versions name the release.
- Articles are updated when a firmware release or a price change alters what the sources say.
How we work
Every article follows the same order. First the manufacturer's documents: the spec sheet, the manual, the energy label, the firmware release notes. Then the independent measurements, from outlets such as Which?, RTINGS, Consumer Reports, HDTVTest and Vacuum Wars: suction in Pa, peak brightness in nits, energy per cycle in kWh, noise in dB, each checked against at least two published sources before it's quoted. Then the owner reports, which only count when the same fault shows up across many owners and many months.
The verdict judges the information, not the appliance: what is documented, where the sources contradict each other, what nobody has measured publicly, and what to check in the shop before you pay. The full method is written up on the reviewer page linked above.
