My House My Home is an independent publication focused on WiFi-connected home appliances, the kind you plug in, connect to your home network, and control from your phone.

We cover Smart TVs, connected washing machines, smart fridges, app-controlled dishwashers, smart ovens, and connected coffee makers. We do not cover heating, cooling, or building systems (those are different products with different buying criteria).

Who writes this

The editorial team behind My House My Home has been reviewing consumer electronics and home appliances since 2019. We've tested over 60 WiFi-connected products across six categories, from 250 GBP budget smart TVs to 2,500 GBP Samsung Family Hub fridges.

Every product we review sits in our homes for at least two weeks before we write about it. We pair appliances to WiFi, run them through daily routines, measure energy consumption, and stress-test the companion apps on both iOS and Android. We don't rely on press kits, spec sheets, or manufacturer demos.

How we test

Our testing process follows a consistent method across all product categories. Each appliance is installed in a real home (not a lab), paired with a standard dual-band router broadcasting separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, and used daily for a minimum of 14 days. We measure boot times, app responsiveness, WiFi stability, and energy consumption using a plug-in power meter.

For smart TVs specifically, we use a calibrated lux meter for brightness tests and evaluate four content types: streaming (Netflix 4K HDR), gaming (PS5 at 4K/120 Hz), broadcast TV (Freeview HD), and SDR upscaling from standard-definition sources.
